I made this guy for my son’s 12th birthday. He loves legos so I thought I would try to make “lego man” for him, I was pretty pleased with the finished product even if it does not look like I pictured it in my head.
I started with a solid block of basswood and cut out the hinge for his legs.
The next step was to separate the legs and shape them as well as shape the neck
Then I carved the head.
It took awhile and a lot of trial and error to get all the joints working properly.
I carved the arms and used a small dowel for the joints.
Now he is ready for pain. I am sticking with primary colors.
I had to have a model for much of the carving process and he came in handy for painting the face.
He is dry and fully assembled.
Carson seemed to like it.
